Welcome

 Since its foundation in Mar del Plata, Argentina, in 1957, Cuba has been associated to the Latin American Association of Coloproctology, ALACP; therefore, it constitutes for me a double honor to invite you to participate in the 20th Congress of our organization.

 The past century, that recently concluded, represented a remarkable advance for medical sciences, mainly, in the treatment of the infected contagious diseases; but It remains far in eliminating and curing the degenerative diseases.

 I consider that the challenge in this Century will be mainly given, to reach advances in the prevention and cure of these diseases. Our Specialty does not have to lose this vision and the projection of this Congress must have a beginning in this future.

 We are sure that your collaboration will contribute to the profit of these aims. It will be a pleasure for the Organizing Committee to welcome you in this beautiful City of Havana.
